We asked Home Instead to provide us with a 'live in carer' when my 93 year old father came out of hospital following a 3 week stay. Prior to going into hospital he could look after himself and walk up to a km, however during his time in hospital, he was not allowed to walk and consequently he had lost much of his strength and mobility and we were keen to get this back to improve the quality of his life and prevent falls. We looked at care homes but they did not offer any rehabilitation so we opted for a 'live in carer' who did an excellent job in encouraging him to exercise, assisting him on walks out of his house and helping him care for himself again. Importantly he enjoyed their company and was happy with them in his home. After three weeks his mobility and quality of life had improved. This would probably not of happened if he had gone into residential care. Because of this he still lives in his own house with Home Instead carers providing twice a day to support, he is enjoying li

Overall Experience

We are so happy we chose Home Instead for our Dad. He was really reluctant initially to have care visits but now really appreciates the opportunities these give him, e.g. to go out on short walks or visit a cafe. All our Dad's carers are fantastic (though naturally he has his favourites) and we are so impressed by the dedication and compassion of the whole team.

The team at Home Instead care for my Dad who's needs with Parkinson's and dementia are increasingly complex. The support and help they have given my Dad and support to my Mum has been nothing short of brilliant. The relationships my Dad has built with some of his regular caregivers has been nothing short of life changing for him. It's been wonderful to see and I thank all of them all so much for their help, care and love. Holly, John, Ray, Sean, Jess and the rest of the team are absolutely brilliant and I don't know what we would have done without them. Thankyou so much.

My sister who lives on her own has engaged the team at Home Instead for around two years and is delighted with the support, encouragement, and companionship she has received from them. They have assisted her in many areas including with grocery shopping, driving to appointments, helping with meals, doing the laundry and importantly someone to talk to.
Earlier this year when she was ill, I dealt directly with them to manage visits and assistance required, getting to know the team very well. I found the carers assigned to my sister to be very professional, considerate, and sympathetic to my sister's situation and to her needs. They continue to take excellent care for her and I am very grateful.

Additionally, I find the team administering the carers to be responsive, accommodating and have always kept me in the loop as to what was happening with my sister. I highly recommend you contact the team at Home Instead should your loved one/s require home care and assistance.

Home Instead provide a reliable professional and efficient service for my Mum. They are kind, polite and patient and any issues are dealt with quickly and smoothly. She enjoys the company of the carers and they often participate in her chosen activity whether it's playing golf or painting. I know she is in good hands.

Overall Experience

I have found Home Instead's care professionals who come into my mother's home to support her to be very helpful, caring and considerate of her needs. Equally the admin and office staff are also very helpful and flexible around meeting my mother's changing care needs.

I find the electronic/ online information sharing system about each visit very useful as it helps me have some context to some of the observations my mother makes and it offers me reassurance about how she is all of which is very helpful.

Overall Experience

Home Instead were very responsive to the enquiry for Dad's care. They guided us through the process sensitively and were supportive and understanding throughout. Any changes and additions needed to be made to the care plan were dealt with quickly and smoothly. The care team who looked after Dad were friendly, well trained and kind, and of great support. The care planning app was completed quickly each day, as I live away this was particularly comforting to me. Thank you.

Very pleased with the home visit care being provided to my mother. There seems to be enough staff to cover for each other when life and work circumstances change at short notice, which means the care service received is very reliable and has added quality to her life when I can't be there for her and it has also helped myself by giving me time to live a less demanding & stressful life.
All the staff have been professional at their jobs and share information back when they feel it's important.
The admin team have also been excellent, are approachable, informative and show dedication to their work.

Home Instead provide peace of mind for me knowing my father is well cared for and his social needs are also met each day. Being alone with complex health problems is a worry for him but having the team visit throughout the day gives him security, comfort and friendship whilst making sure his welfare is checked and supported. He has formed a strong bond with everyone over the years, I know how important continuing this is for him and make it a priority checking in with the office who are amazing at listening when problems crop up. This was a big decision for Dad when life became difficult for him, am so glad we chose Home Instead.

My initial online request for care was responded to quickly with a phone call which enabled questions to be asked and gave clarity for the way forward. This was followed up with a helpful and friendly care consultation which led to the placement of a carer who was carefully and thoughtfully matched to my mum. I knew when I drove off for the weekend away that I was leaving my mum in safe, kind, experienced, and capable hands, which meant I could go without being anxious or worried about her care.

My mum's carer was kind, caring, thoughtful, and took excellent care of my mum over the weekend and my mum enjoyed the weekend with her. She went above and beyond what was expected. When I returned home I found that she had very kindly and thoughtfully done laundry and ironing. I cannot say how grateful I am for the high quality of care that my mum received and for the clear, friendly, understanding and helpful communication and contact that I had with the Home Instead South Lakes team.

We've been so grateful for the companion care Home Instead provides for my step-mum, Joan. It has made a huge difference in her life keeping her active, engaged, and supported. Sophie has been wonderful, taking Joan out, spending quality time with her, and helping her stay independent. The evening care, including help at bedtime, has also been a big support.

It has not only helped Joan, but also given my dad some much-needed free time and peace of mind, knowing she is in such capable hands. The team is kind, compassionate, professional, and very reliable. Their support has made such a positive impact on both Joan and my dad's daily life.

Home Instead were introduced to us when Mum needed palliative care. At this very fragile time when we knew very little about the care process, Mum's Team guided us, supported us & cared for Mum with the utmost professionalism. The Team worked with us in caring for Mum at home, as was her wish. During the 4.5 years of Home Instead care, the Team continued to care for Mum, even when she was bed bound, with humour, encouragement, sharing Mum's memories, hobbies & introducing her to new ones, spending time & showing genuine interest. They were proactive in suggesting equipment & products that would help in Mum's day to day care.
The office team were great at helping navigate outside agencies, guiding us & ensuring the best care for Mum.
In the final few days of Mum's life, the Team were amazing, going well above & beyond in looking after Mum & us, flexing the care as her needs required.

We would happily recommend Home Instead as care professionals, we began to see them as extended family.

Overall Experience

I have had experience of the care provided by Home Instead South Lakes for the past 3 years as my Mother's dementia progressed. Initially for companionship carers right through to end of life care.

The care provided has been simply exemplary. The care professionals have all been fantastic, with interesting activities art/cooking/outings planned for each day which helped to delay her cognitive decline.

When my Mum's condition progressed to palliative care, the support from the team helped me navigate a complicated system to allow my Mum to be at home, with end of life care provided by carers that she knew.

I would recommend Home Instead South Lakes unreservedly.

My mum has been receiving companionship support for a year now & I could never have imagined the experience working out as well as it has. Mum (& I) adores her care professionals & she regards them as friends, new friends that stimulate and support her, giving her the practical and emotional help that is invaluable to her and us as a family. She has missed seeing her old friends since COVID & seeing them now is difficult to organise as she ages; HI have helped with that by either enabling a visit to see them, or just by being her new companions that have been carefully selected for her. I am so happy that we have not left getting this first stage of care too late. She has such a fantastic relationship with her team now, that as her dementia progresses & her mobility deteriorates she will trust them & not feel any loss of dignity that she was so worried about, when we had the 1st meeting. I know they will do everything to support keeping her at home for as long as needed.

When we were looking for care providers for my 91 year old mum, we were recommended to Home Instead. From the very first contact to saying farewell to the Home Instead team when mum moved on to hospita,l they were caring, professional and very straight forward to deal with. The carers on the ground were fantastic. Mum loved having them to help her get up and organised in the morning and to bed in the evening. They were a credit to Home Instead and their caring, kind and professional attitude was also reflected throughout the organisation with all people we contacted.

I would strongly recommend them.

Home Instead have provided great care for my uncle for several years. They go above and beyond to make sure he is looked after well. They set my mind at rest with excellent communication and proactively suggest many helpful ideas to improve my uncle's quality of life. I recommend them very highly.

Home Instead were excellent at supporting my 95-year old mum to live in her own home until she chose to move to live with her family. The team of carers were great companions for Mum, always helpful and considerate, and she will miss them. The office kept us well informed of any issues, and the regular reports were very useful.
